Service was great and would get 4 stars but food was nothing special for the price.
We also had a minute to talk about the decor which I thought looked like the Haunted Mansion at the Magic Kingdom in Disney World (not a bad thing) but the rest of the table said looked Continental enough for them, so I think we all enjoyed it.
So bring an appetite and a spirit of adventure and you'll be well rewarded. This place is a gem.
Great food, appropriate atmosphere, friendly people...
Once ordered, the food arrived quickly. Our Pretzel (not on the menu, I think this is 'assumed' rather than some 'secret' item) was huge (12" by 8" at least) and excellent. This is appetizer enough for 4-6. We got 3 meat entrees which comes with 4 family-style sides. All dishes and sides were excellent per the table.
Great food. Nice setting. Menu seems a little but pricey but portions are huge.
German restaurants are few and far between in this area, but this is one of the best restaurants I've ever frequented. The wait staff and food is always great, and the Octoberfest menu is fantastic. I've dined here for years.
Genuine fine German dining in an unexpected local. While pricy, the food is cooked to absolute perfection, the portions are quite large, and the sides and desserts alone are worth the trip. You will not walk away hungry. Beer and wine selection is adequate. Despite that, dining here is a top notch experience, including the service. The staff are professional and extremely knowledgeable, not just of the food, but of the German culture in general. Short of visiting Bavaria, this is the closest you can get!
The place was overrun when we arrived so it took a few minutes for our server to get with us. The host got us water in the meantime and everyone visited us to assure us we'd be helped in a few. Really we all needed that time to look at the menus (food and alcohol). We searched a few dishes (in German and French on the menu) to preview what the dish may look like, despite good descriptions in the menu.
The portions were so big that every group who left was carrying some sort of leftover with them. Being in a hotel, we only took the pretzel, which magically was excellent the next day even without heating.
